Nepal is a proven destination for thrill seekers; mountaineers attempting to climb Mount Everest, Annapurna or other 8,000ers, and high altitude trekkers rambling about 4,000m and above. But wait there is more; Nepal is also a proven destination for families looking to explore different cultures while still reveling in nature and wildlife. Our Nepal Tour Package for family is an ideal program if you plan on visiting Nepal.
In & Around Kathmandu
The journey starts from Kathmandu where you visit three UNESCO world heritage sites; Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa & Swayambhunath Stupa. The Kathmandu valley is an ancient cultural hotpot with inhabitants dating back to 300 BCE. As with such historic cities, there are many lore and legends about its establishment.
The indigenous inhabitants of the Kathmandu Valley are the Newar people. They have well preserved their language, culture, music, architecture, traditions and food. The Newar people celebrate their traditions the during the many festivals of Indra Jatra, Panchhare Jatra, Bisket Jatra and many more.
Leaving Kathmandu behind, we head towards Daman, a popular hill station. Here you can witness majestic view of the Himalayas, extending on a good day from Dhaulagiri in the west to Mount Everest in the east. Daman also has a botanical garden, one of the biggest and oldest in Nepal, and has different varieties of Rhododendron.
Chitwan & Lumbini
Further along the trip, we arrive at Chitwan National Park, one of the most popular national parks in Nepal. Our Nepal Tour package for family includes includes wildlife activities in the park; visiting the indigenous Tharu community, bird watching, jungle jeep tour and canoeing on the Narayani river. At the park you will encounter rhinos, deer, etc. If you are lucky, you might even see the majestic Bengal tiger.
Our Nepal family tour takes you further south to Lumbini – the birthplace of Gautam Buddha. It is located in the Terai plain, in the south of the country and not far from the border with India. No matter what religion you are, whether you are a Buddhist or not, the atmosphere that reigns here is captivating! Here you will visit the Maya Devi temple complex, dedicated to the mother of lord Buddha, which houses the ancient artifacts of Gautam Buddha’s era and where a stone marks the site of her exact birth in 623 BC. Within the complex, the pilgrim and Indian emperor Asoka also had a commemorative stone pillar built, unveiled by the excavations of archaeologists. Then there is the monastic area where many temples have been constructed by western and Asian countries.
The next leg of the tour brings you to the lake city of Pokhara. The city is famous for its view of the beautiful Machhapuchhre Himal (Fish-tail mountain) and Annapurna. In and about the city, you will visit the major sights of interest such as the Mahendra Cave, International Mountain Museum, Sarangkot View Point; where, if you are seeking some adventure, can take a paragliding and ultra-light flight. You can also visit the World Peace Stupa, located on a nearby hilltop, or visit the Tibetian Refugee Camp about an hours drive from Pokhara. Finally, you fly back to Kathmandu where you can end your trip shopping for souvenirs and visit Bhaktapur palace courtyard, Patan palace courtyard and Kathmandu palace courtyard.
If you are looking for a shorter family holiday without traveling to Chitwan & Lumbini, we suggest our 7 day Adventure Tour in Nepal. The program offers more in terms of adventure (white-water rafting) and a scenic mountain flight over the Everest.

Day 02: Kathmandu Valley Tour - cultural and historical highlights
After breakfast we will experience the three most important sanctuaries of the Kathmandu Valley: Pashupatinath, Boudhanath and Swayambhunath.
Pashupati is the most important Hindu site in Nepal. Dedicated to lord Shiva, the fierce god appears there in his benevolent aspect of Pashupati. A holy place often compared to Varanasi (in India), the last rites of Hindus are carried out on the banks of Bagmati river.
Boudhanath is the largest Stupa in Asia. In the bygone days caravans after crossing the Himalayas arrived at the Stupa to thank lord Buddha when the trip went well. The eyes of the Buddha painted at the four cardinal points cast an observant gaze on men and their actions.
Swayambhunath Stupa is undoubtedly the oldest and holiest of the Buddhist sites in the capital Kathmandu. Suspended on a hill, it overlooks the whole city. Nicknamed the temple of the monkeys, the Stupa is presented as a hemisphere topped by a round spire with a square base.
The rest of the day is at your leisure. You can visit the main tourist hub of Thamel for shopping or just relax at your hotel.

Day 03: Drive to Daman (2,322m | 80km; 2 hrs)
After breakfast we head west out of the Kathmandu valley on the Tribhuvan Highway to Daman.
Leaving the Kathmandu Valley through its ugliest, most industrial corridor, we descent over winding roads to Naubise. From Naubise, we fork left, climbing relentlessly for 30km to Tistung before descending into the Palung Valley. Further ahead is the small hamlet of Daman.
Daman overlooks the Palung Valley towards a magnificent spread of peaks. However, the mountains will probably be in clouds when you arrive, hence the overnight stay for the best view of the Himalayas.
It is said that when Lord Shiva was mourning and lamenting, carrying dead body of his beloved wife Satidevi, he rested at Daman. Being so thirsty he just hit the big rock with his trident (trisula) and water came out. A temple marks the site where one can still see the water flowing in between the big rocks. It’s about an hours hike through a dense rhododendron forest. Alternatively, you can hike for about 30 minutes and visit the Mountain Botanical Garden, one of the largest and oldest in Nepal.

Day 04: Early morning sunrise view of the Himalayan Panorama followed by drive to Chitwan (132km; 4.5 hrs)

The road ascends till the Sim Bhanjyang pass (2,488m) followed by a beautiful long descent through jungle, forest and finally terraced farmland to Hetauda, capital of Makwanpur district. We are in Terai, the beginning of the Nepalese flat country.
From Hetauda the landscape and climate changes dramatically; gone are the hills and windings roads. An hours drive will bring us to Sauraha, just beyond the Chitwan National Park borders. You can either rest at the resort or go on a village tour of the near ethnic Tharu community. It’s a great learning experience about the lifestyle of the indigenous community.
In the evening, there will either be a Tharu cultural dance presentation in the local village or a slideshow presentation about the wildlife activities.
Overnight at Chitwan (B,L,D)
Day 05: Full day wildlife activities in Chitwan

After some rest at the hotel, you will visit the Maya Devi Temple & Garden, World Peace Stupa, Ashoka pillar, and the many temples built by nations around the world.
